Upload a CSV file to add consumer contacts or business partners to Accountable.
B2C: Consumers, such as leads, borrowers, and past clients.
B2B: Business contacts, such as real estate agents and referral partners.
1. Prepare your contact list
Create a spreadsheet with one contact per row and a header at the top of each column.
First Name and Last Name are required. Include email addresses, mobile phone numbers, and other available details to help make your contacts useful for follow-up.
Column | What to include |
First Name — required | Contact’s first name |
Last Name — required | Contact’s last name |
Email Address | Contact’s email |
Mobile Phone | Contact’s mobile number |
Company | Business or organization name, especially for B2B contacts |
Position | Job title or role |
Street, Line 2, City, State, Country, Zip | Available address details |
Contact Type | B2C or B2B, if your file includes both types |
Before uploading:
Separate first and last names into their own columns.
Remove empty rows and duplicate entries within your file.
Check email addresses and phone numbers for accuracy.
Save your spreadsheet as a CSV (.csv) file.
Tip: Import B2C and B2B contacts separately if you want to apply different tags, industries, or selling systems to each group.
2. Open Import Contacts
Click your profile picture in the upper-right corner, then select Import Contacts.
Upload your CSV file to proceed to Match Headers.
3. Match your columns
On the Match Headers screen, Accountable’s fields appear on the left. Use the dropdowns on the right to select the matching column from your CSV.
For example:
Accountable field | Your CSV column |
First Name | First Name |
Last Name | Last Name |
Email Address | |
Mobile Phone | Cell Phone |
Company | Company |
Your column names do not need to match Accountable’s field names exactly—you connect them during this step.
Map both required name fields and any additional information you want to import.
4. Set the contact type
Importing B2C contacts
For a file containing only consumers, leave Contact Type unmapped and select B2C under ContactType (Default).
Importing B2B contacts
For a file containing only business partners, leave Contact Type unmapped and select B2B under ContactType (Default). Map Company and Position if those details are available.
Importing a mixed list
If your file contains both types, include a Contact Type column and map it to Accountable’s Contact Type field.
The default contact type is used for contacts where a contact type is not mapped per row.
5. Choose optional settings
The import screen also includes:
Selling System: Choose a selling system, if applicable.
Tags: Add a tag to help identify and organize the imported group.
Industries: Choose an industry, if applicable.
For example, a tag such as “October Contact Import” can help you find the group later.
6. Review and complete your import
Review your field mappings, default contact type, and optional settings, then follow the on-screen prompts to complete the import.
Afterward, find a few imported contacts and confirm their names, contact details, and B2C or B2B classification.
